It's all about "Franking" privileges. The small print gets complicated and boring pretty quick. But the bottom line is that you can't use taxpayer money for campaign mailings. And that's what Roskam has been up to. So it's going to be investigated in Congress.
I'm not sure it's a deal breaker for Roskam. Just another piece of the slime trail that he leaves behind as he runs his dirty filthy campaign against Jill Morgenthaler.
He is running an ad that goes on and on about how Jill will raise taxes. Raise them on single people, married people, businesses, well, just everyone my god! Don't know where they come up with this BS. Jill certainly didn't say I'm going to raise your taxes!
Final note: Roskam was invited to debate by a third party and he refused. He won't defend his record or explain his voting record in a public forum.
I stopped by the Morgenthaler campaign HQ late last week to pick up some more yard signs. I found an energized group of about 15 or 20 folks having fun stuffing envelopes, working on computers and fussing and bustling around the office. They were positive, cheerful -- and it was about 8PM on a rainy night. I didn't get a chance to meet Jill who was at a coffee with a bunch of republicans who may be voting for the other guy this time around.
